The facts about new Rateable Values

Due to the postponement of the 2015 revaluation, the current rating valuation list has been in operation for almost seven years!

Bringing this extended time period to an end, on 1 October 2016 the government eventually released a new (draft) Rating List for non-domestic properties. Consequently, every commercial building occupier within England and Wales is to be issued with a new rateable value (RV). And because this RV has been so long coming, and because local councils can now also influence the charging factors, the new valuations could differ significantly.
